The lagoon of Salinas covers more than 6000 hectares; the shallow salt waters are surrounded by the beautiful volcanoes of Pichupichu and Ubinas. This lagoon is considered one of the most beautiful landscape sceneries in Peru. As well as the beautiful scenery you will experience the local wildlife the area inhabits such as Vicuñas, Alpacas, andena foxes and a selection of migratory birds including the three types of flamingos:
Phoenicopteras chilensis (chiliean Flamingo)
Phoenicopteras andinas (large Andean parihuana)
Phoenicopteras jamesi (Andean girl-parihuana)
You will be collected from your hotel at 7:30am by one of our experienced tour guides. The drive to Salinas located 4300 meters above sea level will take approximately 2hours. Along the way the tour will stop at Chiguata village which offers a beautiful postal picture of the pre-Inca terraces and the Misti Volcano. Upon arrival at the lagoon, you will have plenty of time to explore and walk around the lagoon, excelente photo oportunity of wildlife and nature take place here. Then you will have the chance to enjoy your boxed lunch. You will also have the opportunity to visit the hidden village; the location where the locals live and work the Andean salt using the techniques of their ancestors.
